Internet is one of the main sources of information and resources for young people, even in the area of health. Knowing about this use is important for designing strategies directed toward improving information about access to health resources and the overall quality of life of young people.
In order to improve adolescents’ health through ICT, two research projects are being carried out. In an initial approach, we try to discover how adolescents use the Internet and social networks for health, their perception of need, and their opinions about the usefulness and interest of implementing an online health service designed to meet their needs.
The second project consists of designing an online intervention directed towards the prevention of anxiety disorders in adolescents, based on the adaptation and improvement of programmes currently available. The project is in a pilot phase with a small group of adolescents with high levels of anxiety and with the purpose of evaluating its effectiveness.
