Research areas

The main objective of this line of research is the analysis of the psychological aspects of elderly people's use of technology.

Elderly people use ICT in different areas of their daily lives: communication, health, environmental control, leisure, education, etc. Attitudes, expectations, needs and emotions are psychological aspects that can explain the orientation of elderly people towards ICT and the subjective experience derived from it.

What are the psychological variables that determine elderly people’s use of ICT? What is the source of their need to use them? ICT change the lives of older people. In what way? Is it possible to imagine that older people use ICT to promote healthy habits beyond their association with rehabilitation processes and treatment of chronicity?

Within this line, we intend, therefore, to approach ICT for elderly people as a source of new possibilities and an opportunity for change.
